~ Each week, Knitters and Crocheters around the world join Ginny to share their love of crafting and reading by posting a picture of the project they are currently working on, along with their current read. My contribution is below. ~
I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I am a Historian by training and that history books dominate my reading a lot of the time. My ‘period’ at University was the First World War, and Robert Massie’s – about Russia’s last Tsar Nicholas II and his wife – touches right upon this. I’ve mainly been reading this in bed at night and I’m right about halfway through at the moment. As I’ve read a lot around this period, it’s providing quite repetitive for me and isn’t quite what I expected. I’d recommend it for an outsider without knowledge of Imperial Russia though!
Knitting: Frostbitten Footstep Socks
Since I took the above photograph, I’ve cast off the sock above and am just about to start the second. I’m using an adapted version of Louise Tilbrooks ‘Winter Footsteps Socks‘ pattern, which unfortunately has proved to contain errata on the leg pattern so hasn’t been quite as straightforward as I anticipated.
The beautiful yarn – which I LOVE by the way, it is SO soft and pretty – is from Stranded Dyeworks. It’s Paradise MCN (a blend of merino, cashmere and nylon) in the shade ‘Frostbite’. Can you tell I coordinated the yarn and pattern?
